It has been a very sad day. We had to put our dog down due to her suffering. For the first time since i left the farm many years ago I dug a deep grave.  I dug it for her in my back yard. It is our plan to plant an ornamental tree over top of her. When I worked on the farm this kind of thing was commonplace. In my senior years i have mellowed, and find the event highly disturbing. No longer will we be greeted at the front door with a loving creature bringing us one of her doggy toys.

Kilua Morning.

The symphony of the Kilua morning
Strikes up, when sun’s celestial journey
brings the dawn light to the heights of Moana Kia.
Mynah birds begin the symphony
With shrill, three tone notes.
Upon their cue, a multitude of Hawaiian pigeons
Fill the air with monotone cooing.
The rhythm is the waves crashing ashore
with the slow beat’s of percussion.
Trees add their soft tones of foliage gently
Played by the whispering trade winds.
Plumeria and tulip trees are joined
by palms and banyans.
A host of multi-coloured flowers
Listen to the sounds with receptive petals.
This is the symphony of a Kilua morning.
